Information Session: Drugs in the Netherlands

If you're an expat who has questions about alcohol and drugs in the Netherlands, we invite you to join this program! You'll get important information and will have an opportunity to ask questions about safety, alcohol and drug use in the Netherlands. Find out what is and what isn't legal, and how to keep safe during a night out!
You'll be welcomed by a Councillor, and there'll be a short introduction before visiting Stratumseind in groups, accompanied by two members of the city council. At each stop, you'll be welcomed with a drink followed by a presentation and the opportunity to ask questions. Each presentation will take approximately 20 minutes, and there is a total of 4 presentations. The program will end in the Youth Centre Dynamo.

18.45-19.00 Reception at the City Council Houses with coffee and tea
19.00-19.40 Welcome by the Councillor and Introduction
19.40-21.30 Visit the 4 different locations on 'Stratumseind' for the presentations.
21.30-22.00 End at the Youth Centre Dynamo
Presentation 1: What is there on offer at Stratumseind apart from alcohol?
What other substances/drugs (illegal) are for sale? What are the risks involved in taking these substances? Are they
used frequently? What does Novadic-Kentron do at Stratumseind?
Presentation 2: Preventive approach by working together
Most of the cafés on Stratumseind are members of VHS; an association that includes the Police, the Fire department
and the Municipality to detect (safety) problems in an early stage and to solve them.Find out how they work together to keep Stratumseind safe.
Presentation 3: The Working Method of the Police on Stratumseind (and Other Popular Areas).
What is tolerated and what is not?
Presentation 4: Alcohol and the Brain
What effect does alcohol have on the brain? Is alcohol harmful?

This event is an initiative of the SRE (City Region Eindhoven), the GGD (Municipal Public Health Services),
Novadic-Kentron (Addiction Care), the Police, VerenigingHorecabelangenStratumseind (Association of Cafés), Portiersoverleg (Porters consultation), and the City of Eindhoven.
