Martin Figura comes to town!

Martin Figura is a poet, photographer, winner of the 1975 RAPC Apprentice College Accountancy Prize and was recently described as a pleasant sixty-year-old gentleman (hospital referral letter). He will perform 2 of his spoken word shows.

When: Tuesday May 7 & Wednesday May 8 2019, 20:30 p.m.
Where:
Theater aan het Vrijthof (Vrijthof 47)
Price:
€ 15,00 (one drink included)

Wednesday May 8: DOCTOR ZEEMAN’S CATASTROPHE MACHINE

Is there a mathematical equation for love and the behaviour of a beating heart? What can be retrieved from life’s catastrophes and wounds? When our windshield is blurred with rain and we’re wearing our reading glasses, can we learn to look in the rear view mirror and smile?

‘Figura was a revelation – funny, sharp and on top form.’

Afterwards there is a meet & greet with Martin Figura and a toast to love and loss.

Tuesday May 7: WHISTLE

At the centre of Martin Figura’s Whistle is the mother’s death at the hands of his father when Martin was nine years old. The work goes beyond this shocking central event to present us with a tender, beautiful, funny and moving coming-of-age story. Figura uses gentle humour and insight to give the reader and audience a profound and uplifting experience.

‘Profoundly honest and at the same time joyfully entertaining.’
