Meedoen in de Wijken

Chat with your neighbours, join local activities, have a 'ten-minute talk' at your child’s school, play team sports, volunteer, start a course, or apply for a job. Many people with a migrant background find these steps challenging.

Meedoen in de Wijken is here to help. Our goal is to encourage participation in society, with language improvement as a key tool to achieve that.

Language support is provided by volunteer language coaches. Participants can choose between one-on-one support, group sessions, or attend our language cafés. Since the Covid pandemic, we’ve also added an online variation called Kletsmaatje, where participants receive online support.

Whether individually, in a group, or online, language coaches offer support for a period of six months. Visits to our language cafés can be one-time or weekly—whatever suits the participant best.

The themes we are assigned with are Learning Dutch and Participation (Social). Next to that, our organization Humanitas has projects to support Youth and Families.
