Living In Program

The Living In Program is a collaboration between the Municipality of Eindhoven and Holland Expat Center South.

Established in 2016, the Living In Program recognizes that a new start in a completely new environment is not always easy and that knowledge migration is often a family strategy. The Living In Program therefore focuses not only on the first hire - who comes to work at companies and knowledge institutions in the Brainport/Eindhoven region – but also on the accompanying partner (spouse) and/or children.

Working in close collaboration with international talent, international communities, employers, and social and cultural organizations, the Living In Program aims to create a more inclusive and internationally friendly ecosystem, which is better able to attract and retain international talent.

The program’s current initiatives are focused in 3 key areas:

Community and a warm welcome

  • Homewards – a social onboarding event designed to introduce internationals to the city of Eindhoven and to its local and international residents. A joint initiative with Brainport and This is Eindhoven.
  • The Living In Guide, Eindhoven region – a handy guide packed full of in-depth information on culture and leisure, education, careers, and more in the Eindhoven region.
  • Community building – working closely with non-profit support organizations. and social, societal, and cultural clubs in the region to create a supportive environment and encourage integration with the local community.
  • Winter Market Eindhoven – a joint initiative with The International Entrepreneurs Collective (TIEC). This inclusive community event fosters cultural understanding, local engagement, and social cohesion by bringing together people of all ages, backgrounds, and communities.

Dual career - creating opportunities for partners/spouses

The Living In Program works in association with the Expat Spouses Initiative, providing financial support for their Talent100 and Women for Women programs which help the accompanying partner to rebuild their career.
